The way for the release of ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ cleared, the court gave this instruction to the makers

Jayeshbhai Jordaar: The Delhi High Court has allowed Ranveer Singh starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar to release in theaters on May 13 and asked the makers to add new disclaimers. The court was hearing a plea seeking removal of a scene related to prenatal sex determination test. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had demanded screening.

A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sangha asked Yash Raj Films to either show the relevant scenes or stay the release. Starring Shalini Pandey with Ranveer, Jayeshbhai Jordaar also stars Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah. Once more the Bench’s report quoted the court’s order as follows, “We have also gone through the trailer and the relevant scenes from the film. We had suggested some more disclaimers to be displayed in the trailer and also in the film when the scenes are concerned. The ultrasound scene and another connected scene are depicted.

Senior Counsel, without prejudice to his submissions, has agreed to portray a more stable warning/disclaimer to be depicted during the running of both scenes. On the bench, Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri watched the relevant scenes of the film. Jayeshbhai Jordaar is all set to release on May 13. It said, “A screenshot of such disclaimer is reproduced here.

Keeping in mind that the movie has already been certified and is scheduled to release on 13th May and now the disclaimer is shown during the scene in question. Senior counsel says that the same warning/disclaimer will be displayed on all formats in the trailer and on YouTube. However, he said that he would need some time. He assured that the same would be done. R-4 is bound by the statements made by the senior advocate on his part.”

During the debate, the bench said that it is the responsibility of the filmmakers to ensure that social evils are not glorified when they are shown on screen. Senior advocate Jayant Mehta, appearing for the producers, said the film should be watched in its entirety, citing references to two recent films – Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat.
