Pandit Shivkumar Sharma: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have condoled the death of santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. Santoor maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma died here on May 10 at the age of 84 due to cardiac arrest. Prime Minister Modi tweeted, “With the passing away of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma ji, our cultural world has become deserted.”
“He popularized Santoor globally. His music will continue to enchant generations to come. I remember my interactions with him. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.” Mamta Banerjee said that the death of the master has left our cultural world untouched.

May his soul rest in peace Om Shanti.” Sarod player Amjad Ali Khan said that an era has come to an end with the death of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.
The maestro tweeted, “He was the pioneer of santoor and his contribution is unparalleled.” He tweeted, “For me, this is a personal loss and I will miss him forever. May his soul rest in peace. His music will live on forever. Om Shanti.”
