Ravi Shastri suggested to reduce the work load on the players

England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes has announced his retirement from ODI cricket due to the increasing pressure of matches. After this decision of Ben Stokes, there has been a debate about the increasing influence of T20 cricket. Former India coach Ravi Shastri has demanded to reduce the bilateral T20 series. Shastri believes that T20 matches should be confined to franchise cricket.

Teams will play more T20 matches in the schedule that the ICC has decided between 2023 and 2027. The ICC has included 15 series of 5 T20 matches in its schedule. Of these, Team India is going to participate in 9 T20 series. ICC intends to earn more through T20 series.

Ravi Shastri says that there is a need to be cautious while giving so much space to the T20 series in the calendar year. The former coach said, “I am not in favor of having so many bilateral T20 series. Franchise cricket is getting a boost. This is happening everywhere in India, West Indies, Pakistan. You give place to the World Cup and then you will keep full focus on it.
