In the election for the post of president in 75 district panchayats of the state, on the last day of withdrawal of nominations on June 29, BJP in 21 districts and SP candidates in one Etawah district have been elected unopposed as district panchayat president. In the remaining 53 districts, elections will be held for the post of District Panchayat President on July 3 from 11 am to 3 pm.
After polling, the results will be declared after counting of votes from 3 pm onwards. The State Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order during the polling. Rampur, Pratapgarh, Unnao and Sultanpur will see a triangular contest while Etah, Sitapur and Jaunpur will see a quadrangular contest. Whereas in 45 districts there will be a direct contest between BJP and SP.
