The Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) Rakesh Asthana has been appointed as the Delhi Police Commissioner by the Narendra Modi government. Asthana, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been made the Commissioner of Delhi Police, three days before his retirement.

Rakesh Asthana did his schooling from Netarhat School, Jharkhand. Rakesh Asthana, a 1984 batch IPS officer, studied at St. Xavier’s College in Ranchi after passing his matriculation examination.

After selection in IPS, he got Gujarat cadre. Let us tell you that Rakesh Asthana was in a lot of discussion after the dispute with the then Director Alok Verma while in the CBI. However, after the controversy, he was transferred from the CBI.
