Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced a loan waiver of Rs 590 crore for farm workers and landless farmers under the Agriculture Loan Scheme. This paved the way for the Chief Minister to fulfill another major promise of his government.

After the high-level meeting held on Tuesday, an official spokesperson said that these checks would be issued during the state-level function on August 20. The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government would waive off the loans of 2,85,325 members of primary cooperative societies amounting to Rs 590 crore, which would provide relief of Rs 20,000 to each member. He has ordered the Finance and Cooperation Departments to implement the process for effective implementation of this decision at the ground level.
