Dominica’s court prohibits sending Choksi elsewhere
Dominica’s court has prohibited fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi from being sent elsewhere from the Caribbean island nation until further orders. Choksi was detained for illegally entering Dominica. The court has given this order on a petition filed on behalf of Choksi’s lawyers.

Choksi’s lawyer Vijay Aggarwal said that the law team has filed a habeas corpus petition for Mehul Choksi in Dominica’s court. It was also told that access to Mehul Choksi is not being given and the constitutional right to legal aid is also being denied.

On Thursday, Agarwal raised suspicion of Choksi’s disappearance from Antigua and Barbuda and being caught in Dominica for illegal entry. Chonsey’s attorney in Dominica, Wayne Marsh, told a radio show that after a brief effort when Choksi met briefly, he was forced to board a ship at Jolly harbor in Antigua and brought to Dominica. She said that people who looked like Indian and Dominica policemen did it.

Marsh said that he saw some marks on Choksi’s body. His eyes were swollen too and he felt threatened. He said that Choksi is a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda, not of India, so he should be sent back.

Aggarwal has raised doubts over the entire incident. He said that I think a strategy was made to take Choksi to another country so that he can be sent to India. I do not know, what forces are working. Aggarwal said that Choksi was placed somewhere after being taken from Antigua and was taken to the police station on Monday. He has been there since then and the world got this news on Wednesday.

Choksi is wanted in a Rs 13,500-crore debt fraud case with Punjab National Bank. Choksi was last seen going to Antigua and Barbuda for dinner in her car on Sunday.
