When Taapsee Pannu says that Vidya Balan’s film ‘Dirty Picture’ has given a new pitch to actresses to play long innings in Hindi cinema, it is understandable that she is pointing towards such films which have the potential to attract the audience. No Khan, Kumar or Roshan is needed for this. Vidya Balan’s film ‘Dirty Picture’ released in December 2011 and just three days before Valentine’s Day in the same year, Marathi film ‘Mala I Whychay’ in which actress Urmila Kanitkar brought to life such a story with her performance, To which the attention of few people in the country had gone even in the world. The law of surrogacy is still unclear in the country and this is despite ‘Mala I Whychay’ winning the National Film Award for Best Marathi Film. After two years, this film was made in Telugu with the name ‘Welcome Obama’ and now it is the turn of ‘Mimi’. Laxman Utekar here has made the heroine of the film a bit modern without keeping her typical rustic, includes her family in her struggle but, the need of the hour is ‘Mimi’. Kriti Sanon has once again surprised with her acting after the film ‘Panipat’. It is time for Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut to recover as Kriti Sanon is going to be a big competition for them. Alia Bhatt is already out of the top 3 race.
