Sanjay Raut said on Tuesday, Sharad Pawar must have advised Devendra Fadnavis how to be a good leader of the opposition. Raut, while speaking to reporters, ruled out any new political multiplication in the state. He said that forget about the ‘Abhiyan Kamal’ in Maharashtra. It will not happen here, it will not happen in West Bengal. Why seek a political angle in every meeting?
Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Fadnavis met the 80-year-old Pawar on Monday and described the meeting as a courtesy call. The meeting took place at a time when the BJP has criticized the Shiv Sena-led state government for the Kovid-19 situation in Maharashtra and the way it dealt with the Maratha reservation case.
Maharashtra is ruled by Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress. Pawar had a gall bladder surgery in April this year, after which doctors have advised him to rest.
Asked about the meeting, Raut took a dig at Fadnavis and said, Sharad Pawar must have advised Devendra Fadnavis how to be a good leader of the opposition. If they continue to do similar work, the opposition (BJP) will not come to power (in the state) for the next 100 years. He said that there must have been talk (in the meeting) about how he (as the leader of the opposition) can play his role, which will benefit the state, the people and the country.
Asked about the meeting between Pawar and Fadnavis having any relation with politics, Raut said that the BJP leader himself called the meeting a courtesy call. Let me tell you that earlier in September last year, Raut and Fadnavis had met, after which there was speculation in the political corridors. Raut, the executive editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, then said that the meeting was in relation to an interview of Fadnavis, which he wanted to take. When asked about this on Tuesday, Raut said that he would soon interview him (Fadnavis) at the appropriate time.
