Britain’s opposition Labor Party on Tuesday blamed the delayed implementation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision to bar travelers from India for the rise in cases of the delta form of the virus. This form of the virus first appeared in India and due to the increase in cases, the lockdown in Britain had to be extended for four more weeks till 19 July.

Labor shadow Home Minister Nick Thomas Symonds called it a ‘Johnson pattern’ and ‘incredibly reckless’ on the British prime minister for not including India in the ‘red list’ of countries from where travel was effectively banned charged with the act. British nationals from the countries on this list would have to be compulsorily quarantined in hotels upon their return.

According to official estimates, from the beginning of April till the time India is included in this list, more than 20 thousand passengers arriving here from India may be infected with the delta form.

Nick Thomas Symonds said in his speech in the House of Commons, ‘This delay is happening because this form of virus, first identified abroad, was allowed to take root in the country.’

“There is only one reason for this to happen – the easing of measures on the border by the Conservative ministers,” he said. He allowed the delta form that first appeared in India to take root here. It is called what it is. Blame it on those who should be responsible for it. In this country it is ‘Johnson Swarup’.
