A new dress code has been prescribed for CBI officers. Women have been asked to wear saris and suits while male officers have been asked to wear formal clothes.

There has been news of a major reshuffle in the attire of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers and staff. Actually, now under the new order, these officers will be able to wear clothes only under the prescribed dress code while on duty in the office. They will be prohibited from wearing jeans, T-shirts and sports shoes. This order has been given by the new CBI Director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal.
Jeans, T-shirts and sports shoes will not work in the office
According to the English newspaper Hindustan Times, the new director has issued an order that now every officer or employee of CBI will have to wear proper formal clothes in the office. He said that jeans, T-shirts and sports shoes would not be allowed in the office. In this also separate instructions have been given for male and female officers. Male officers have been told to wear only formal shirt-pants and formal shoes. Also, he will have to come to the office only after getting a beard. Women officers and personnel have been ordered to wear only saris, suits and formal shirts while on duty.
Order given to strictly follow the guidelines
In the order issued by Deputy Director (Administration) Anoop T Mathew with the approval of CBI Director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, the heads of all branches of CBI across the country have been asked to ensure that these guidelines are strictly followed. Speaking to a newspaper on condition of anonymity, the CBI official said, “It is a balanced order, as every officer/staff, as a professional investigating agency, is required to wear formal clothes. However, in the last few years, especially the employees of the ministry started wearing casuals like jeans and t-shirts and no one stopped it. CBI officers are required to wear at least one formal collared shirt, trousers and shoes.
