hear the news
In the upcoming assembly elections, the main contest of BJP is believed to be with the SP. It is being said that SP is trying to form the government again in UP with the help of OBC voters. The BJP is trying to get rid of this claim. Keeping in view the Mission 2022, the party is correcting the caste-social equation. Out of the 20 candidates whose names have been announced from 20 development blocks of Gorakhpur, 10 are from OBC. This accounts for 50 per cent of the total posts. OBC candidates have also been fielded from four development blocks included in the unreserved category.
It consists of Campierganj, Pali, Piprauli and Sardarnagar development blocks. The party has fielded Dilip Kumar Yadav from Piprauli and Shashikala Yadav from Sardar Nagar. The party leadership says that SP describes Yadavs as its cadre voters but it is not so. Dilip Kumar Yadav is an old worker of BJP. They work well in divisional level organization. The party has rewarded them. Shashikala Yadav is also an old BJP member. Brajesh Yadav is the BJP candidate from Junglekaudia, reserved for OBC. Brajesh is also an old BJP worker.
Santhwar fraternity too
On the pretext of the block chief, the BJP has also reduced the Senthwar vote bank. Shashi Pratap Singh, son of District President Yudhishthira Singh Sainthwar, has been given ticket from Pali and Rekha Singh, daughter-in-law of the minister, has been given ticket from Bhathat. The BJP leadership says that there is a good number of voters in Pipraich, Sahjanwan and Gorakhpur rural assembly constituencies. Therefore, on the pretext of the block chief election, the big vote bank has been tamed.
No representation of Nishads
The BJP has not given representation to the Nishads in the block chief election. District Vice President Rajesh Nishad had claimed from Bhahat but the daughter-in-law of the Minister of State, who got the status, got the ticket. This angered all the people of the society. He says that there are about five and a half lakh Nishad voters in the nine assembly constituencies of Gorakhpur. It is not right to ignore Nishads in the block chief election. Next is the assembly elections. Nishads should have got representation.
