15 people of 4 families from Sikandra area of Agra started flowing in the strong current of Saryu on Friday afternoon while taking bath at Guptar Ghat. The rescue team of the district administration is busy in search of 12 people.

15 people of 4 families from Sikandra area of Agra started flowing in the strong current of Saryu on Friday afternoon while bathing at Guptar Ghat, somehow three people including a 6 year old girl swam to the shore. While the rescue team of the district administration is engaged in search of 12 people.
15 members of the Sikandra Kshetra Vichar family of Agra district reached Ram Nagari Ayodhya in the morning, after visiting the Math temples here, came to visit the Guptar Ghat of the Cantonment area. While roaming, all the people reached Jamthara Kachcha Ghat, about 200 meters away from Guptar Ghat. Here all the people got down in the water to take a bath, but suddenly 4 women started flowing in the strong wave of Saryu. In order to save them, other family members also started flowing in the river, somehow three people including 6-year-old Dhairya swam to the shore. While 12 people drowned in the river. Hearing the cries, the nearby sailors and devotees ran. On receiving the information, the team of police and administration is engaged in the rescue operation.
Army was called on the spot
The army’s rescue team has also descended into the river to save the entire family of Agra. Till 3:30 pm, a total of 6 people out of 15 people have been rescued, while the body of one person has been recovered. Trained divers of army and police are engaged in search of others.
District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha said that a team of police PAC and local divers have been deployed in the rescue operation. Efforts are being made to save as many people as possible. So far 4 people have been rescued. Some women of the family who came from Agra, while washing their hands and feet in the river, started flowing in the grip of strong waves, while saving them, the accident happened.
