For Lucknow, captain KL Rahul made 77 runs with the help of 4 fours and 5 sixes and Deepak Hooda played a brilliant innings of 52 runs with 6 fours and a six. At the same time, fast bowler Shardul Thakur took three wickets for 40 runs in 4 overs for Delhi.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul got the Lucknow team to bat first. Both added 42 runs for the first wicket in 4.2 overs. De Kock was dismissed for 23 runs in 13 balls with the help of three fours and a six. He was caught out by Shardul Thakur.

After this, Deepak Hooda came to bat at number three. Deeper and Rahul batted brilliantly. Rahul scored 77 runs in 51 balls and Deepak scored 52 runs in 34 balls. There was a partnership of 95 runs for the second wicket between the two. Rahul hit 4 fours and 5 sixes. At the same time, Deepak hit 6 fours and a six. In the end, Marcus Stoinis returned unbeaten on 17 off 16 balls and Krunal Pandya on 9 runs in six balls.
