Manoj Bajpayee’s wife Shabana Raza revealed, forced to change name for films

Mumbai. There is no denying that ‘The Family Man 2’ fame actor Manoj Bajpayee is a ‘family man’ in real life. When the actor was asked what comes first for him in his family or work, he immediately replied, ‘Family comes first. First I have to fulfill all the expectations and requirements of the family and only then can I move out of the house.

In his recent interview with DNA, the actor told that, ‘If there is any call about my daughter getting sick or my wife getting sick, it totally bothers me. I can not work. Family happiness is the biggest priority for me. After that, you can work well. Then you don’t care that you got hurt while shooting and you are getting yourself treated. The wounds are there, it doesn’t really bother you. The family should be happy for you to work.’

Shabana made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Kareeb’

This statement tells how much he loves his family i.e. wife Shabana Raza and daughter Ava Nayla. But do you know that Manoj Bajpayee’s wife is also an actress and her screen name was Neha. Manoj’s wife, who made her Bollywood debut in 1998 with the Bobby Deol starrer ‘Kareeb’ and then starred in Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Fiza’, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet’, has earned her name for films like Shabana. Many celebrities voluntarily dropped their original names and adopted the stage name. Shabana talked about it in a 2008 interview with He mentioned how he was ‘forced’ to change his name to Neha before stepping into Bollywood.

‘My parents proudly named me Shabana’

Shabana told in the interview- ‘I was never Neha. I was always Shabana. I was forced to change my name as well. I was not okay with it at all. My parents proudly named me Shabana. There was no need to change it, but no one listened to me. I have matured a lot since coming into the film industry. Earlier I used to be very apprehensive about everything, but now I understand better.

On why the film didn’t go back to its original name after ‘Kareeb’, Shabana said, “It’s a sad thing. When I wanted to go back to my old name, no one listened to me. So working with Sanjay and the entire team of Alibaug has been the best experience of my life. I told Sanjay that I want to do work in my real name and he agreed to it. I had lost my identity and now I have got it back.

Shabana finally managed to use her original name in the 2008 film ‘Alibaug’. When Manoj Bajpayee was asked about his wife’s return to acting in 2016, he told Rediff, “As soon as my daughter grows up, she will return.” Right now, she is ready to do ed and other short term work so that she can focus on the child. Shabana was last seen in the 2009 film Acid Factory.
