Director Anil Sharma’s blockbuster film ‘Gadar’ recently completed 20 years of its release. On the completion of twenty years of this film, it was reported that the offer of this film was given to Govinda before Sunny Deol. But now director Anil Sharma himself has revealed in a recent interview that he had never offered this film to Govinda. Rather, Govinda has a misunderstanding related to it.

Actually there were reports that this film was first offered to Govinda and Neelam and later Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel were cast in it. When Anil Sharma was asked about the truth of this matter, he said, ‘This thing is completely wrong. Actually at that time I was working with Govinda on the film ‘Maharaja’, then I told him the story of ‘Gadar’. He may have misunderstood that I wanted to cast him, and that’s where the rumor started.

Ameesha Patel was selected among 400 girls for this film.

Anil Sharma said, ‘I would love to work with him in not one but 10 films but I never wanted to cast him in ‘Gadar’. Only Sunny Deol was my first and last choice for this role; However, as far as heroines are concerned, I had approached many big actresses at that time, although Neelam was not one of them. Everyone was facing some problem or the other, some did not like our story and some did not like us.

He further told that in such a situation he decided to make this film with a new face. He finally selected Ameesha Patel for this role after auditioning 400 actors.
