Shakib Al Hasan Corona Positive: Before the Test series against Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh cricket team has suffered a major setback. In fact, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was on Tuesday ruled out of the first match of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, as he has been found corona infected.

Shakib Al Hasan, 35, had returned from the USA on Monday and was to join the Bangladesh team on Tuesday. However, the all-rounder has been advised to remain in isolation after the corona report came positive twice.

Under the Kovid-19 protocol, he will have to remain in isolation for the next five days. BCB’s President of Cricket Operations Jalal Younis told Cricbuzz, “Shakib has been found to be Corona positive and will not be available for the initial Test against Sri Lanka.”

Shakib last played a Test, when Bangladesh faced Pakistan at Mirpur in December 2021. He was expected to return to the longer format in the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. Shakib had missed the New Zealand Test series due to family reasons, then returned from South Africa for personal reasons after playing the ODI series.
